Talk about withdrawal!! I'm stuck in Sydney for three days and not a guitar in sight.....
HELP!!
My callouses will go soft, I'll forget the chords to all my favourite songs...... crikey!!
I think I'm going to have to buy myself a Martin backpacker or something..... What do you guys and gals do when you're away from home with no guitar?
I'm thinking of going to a supermarket tomorrow and buying a dummy/soother and a security blanket!!
Left them at home too, didn't I??!!??

Howard, I NEVER travel without a guitar anymore. My battered and beautiful Tacoma comes with me everywhere.

After the music stores close for the evening, you can always stop at a local Hard Rock Cafe and finger the fretboards of some Rock Star's guitar hanging on the walls, to keep those callouses in shape.... Regards - Rich F.

I hear you Aitch! That's the part of travelling to unfamiliar places that I dislike the most. No guitars or basses.
Fortunately when I go to Vancouver I have a few guitars and at least one bass to choose from. No Ricks though.

Hey Aitch,
How's it going? Hope you come back to TO sometime.
Get yourself a Washburn Rover - cheaper than a Martin by far, just as good (imho), fits in an airplane overhead compartment - and if it gets trashed or lost - get another one!!

I've got two guitars I picked up for the express purpose of travelling. First is a little Martin Koa LXM--very nice 3/4 scale acoustic, comes with a well -padded gig bag perfect for the overhead compartments, etc. If I'm in an electric mode, I've got a Squier Butterscotch Blonde Tele and a Fender Mini-Twin battery amp.

Oh geez, Aitch, I feel your pain!
I've just been gone for the last ten days, and my hubby wouldn't let me take my Martin backpacker (but I really wouldn't have had time to play anyway).... I've been home for two whole days now and STILL haven't had a chance to play. ....But my 660 DCM arrived yesterday, so tomorrow afternoon will be an extended bonding session after I open the case, LOL!
Don't worry about your calluses--I still have mine, although the nails on my left hand are longer than I normally let them grow!

Aitch,
I'm stuck in DC without a guitar and going through withdrawal myself. I'm going to take Dave's advice and head to the nearest guitar shop tomorrow after meetings.

Lovely photos, Jeff!
Oh man, I can't wait--this is gonna be NICE!
I actually got my 330 DCM a few weeks back and have been too busy to say anything about it, but it is EXTREMELY beautiful; I love how it glitters and sparkles in the sun, and I love the way it shines like a mirror.... Opening the 660 to match will be a treat.
Good luck on your travel guitar search, John! The nice thing about a Martin backpacker is that it will fit diagonally in a large suitcase, and would probably be an okay carry-on to take on a plane. The down side is that it feels more like a toy than a guitar to play, and the tone is kind of tinny, but it's certainly better than nothing, and will do in a pinch. I mainly use mine for camping, because it's cheap enough that I don't worry about damage from moisture or campfire smoke and sparks....
