I sometimes wish my 360/12 had a higher fret profile. It plays like butter, the action is ultra low, but I still wonder what a higher fret profile would be like. Anyone else have musings like this?

Yeah on a bass tho......a 4003. Sometimes i feel that although the slim flat neck is great, is sometimes feels a bit cramped higher up the neck as it dosent flair out like a p bass etc. Higher frets would help also.
But as soon as im playing with the band i cant even notice and it plays amazingly

My 4001 needs a higher fret profile, since it was played really hard by the previous owner(s). The frets are kinda worn down, but doesn't need a fret job, yet. (Thank God.) Sometimes, when I get in a groove, it almost has the sound of a fretless because they're getting so flat and smooth!!!

OMG!
"It plays like butter, the action is ultra low"
I'm spending $200 to make my ric play like that!
Higher action is nothing but sore fingers and alot of buzzing and out of tune notes trying to push everything down . . .

yes, I'll let you know what taller frets sound/feel like in about three weeks....and a wider string spacing at the nut and a custom tooled 12 saddle bridge.....

pic of taller frets, frets which extend the entire width of the neck over the binding, and new fretboard finish

I strongly reccomend that you DO NOT get a higher fret profile on your 360/12.
I had mine refretted to have them extend over the binding, and had taller frets installed.
The problem I had was when I fretted any notes on the low E and A pairs the lower octave would go WAY sharp. Now maybe I am pressing somewhat hard, but I want both octaves to sound.
You may not have this issue depending on how you play.
I had the nut mod, though not so wide as to have the strings over the binding, and also had the 12 saddle bridge installed.
After a time of detuning the low octaves so they would sound in tune when I fretted the notes, I brought the guitar back to my luthier and he made the frets lower, where RIC originally had them. Tuning issue solved. For me.
