A 60's 4001. If he always had it like that on stage with Heep I think it's a miracle it wasn't stomped over by a drunken David Byron:

I remember an article from Metal Hammer in 1987 and there was a pic of Wetton's gear and he had the Rick then too. In a Melody Maker article in 1976 he said he bought the bass from the States as a spare for his beloved Precision. He also bought his black maple necked Jazz but didn't use either much.

Someone needed a stand! I recall seeing that Jazz bass on the "Heat Of The Moment" video by Asia.

Ronn, there's no Jazz in the pic above. I remember seeing an UH pic where he had both the Rick and the Jazz in stands on stage and he played (as always) the Precision.

Hi, I was reading this thread and remembered I saw Wetton playing a 4001 in this Asia video. Probably Asia's version of a hoakey 80's love song..
