I knew you could do it!

Just watch out for the exploding Accent!

Wwow. That's the first Accent I've ever seen with a 1/8" gap between the string anchor and the tailpiece. Gives us an idea of the forces involved. The center (spring steel) piece is rather brittle, So I'd be on the lookout for cracks over time.

Two questions:

Does it return to pitch?

What's next--a bass?

What's that Fireglo thingy sittin' next to it? Image

I have Pyramid flats on it tuned down one whole step (DGCFAD). The arm is REALLY close to the pickguard, but there's enough room for gentle but effective pushes and pulls. Seems to stay in pitch. I'll know better tomorrow once it's settled in a bit.

PW, I suppose I could try one on my 4005, though I don't think the grooves are wide enough for the strings.

I have a Vox Phantom XII with the factory Bigsby rip-off -- or as I call it, the automatic detuning machine. Great way to end a song. End a song.

John, send me the piece and I'll widen the grooves for you.

That's a gauntlet. Thrown down.

Ooh, this is starting to get "velly intelesting"!

Okay, in looking at the Accent (currently on my 330) and the bass strings, the grooves may not need to be widened for this to work.

HOWEVER...

I just did a string change on my 330 yesterday, so you'll have to wait until the next one before I attempt this stunt!

John, don't do it! The 360/12 I didn't mind taking a chance with, but a 4005???

Jdog, I'm shocked! I thought you were a "go for it" kinda guy!!

You took the chance and blazed the trail, now here come the pilgrims!

What's the big deal? The only downside to the Accent to me seems to be the foam pads marring the paint underneath - but that's only after a long period of use. I'm just going to do it as a novelty and take it off 10 minutes later.
