Swapping the Speaker

I think my question is so basic, I couldn't find it in an FAQ anywhere on the internet!

I've got some soldering experience (mostly guitar innards), and a tube amp that has speaker poorly matched for my needs. I'd like to change out the speaker, but I've heard that you should only work on a tube amp if you know what you're doing. Is changing the speaker (12" to 12" same ohmage) complicated? More importantly if I do this, am I going to shock myself? Doesn't seem like it, since I'm not actually messing with the electronics, but... just want to be sure.

Any advice?

You should be fine. Unplug to make sure no power is present anywhere in the area. As long as the speaker impedance is the same and the power rating is sufficient, you will be fine!
