Snow Patrol on Saturday Night Live - 4003 JG LH.

Snow patrol. How do these one dimensional bands make it? 3 chords over and over again with a quarter note feel along with limited vocal abilities and no lyrics, excuse me, the same LYRIC repeated 5,000 times. I don't get it.

Yeah I caught that mid-song. Didn't exactly showcase the Rick - a whole lotta 8th notes on the root. duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh.....

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the 4003JG sounded like a tinny guitar. NO bottom end, no depth, and the tone IMO was a disgrace to the versatile sound a Rick bass is capable of. I'm just mouthing off BTW because I guess I will never get beyond the music of the 60's and 70's.

There's plenty of music today that is worth listening to. There's always **** to sort through, these days and back in the 60s and 70s and 80s and 90s. Don't give up hope!

To each his own, I guess. I'm one of the (not so inconsiderable number of) people that really like 'em! They're also really nice guys that have paid their dues.

I noticed Snow Patrol on my local music video show with a Rick, and I have noticed they seem to be growing in popularity.
I have noticed a couple of bands using Rickenbacker 4003s, such as Wolfmother, The Hives, Snow Patrol, and Muse.

Sure would be nice to see a 4004 in the limelight!
Lemmy using one is great but seeing a few in more mainstream music would be cool.

I liked the band on SNL and the bassist has great taste! Having 3 kids in their early 20's I've been exposed to plenty of the newer music. I really enjoy a lot of it too.

I think they've written some great songs. Check out Run, which I think is a beautiful song.
The thing I don't get is that people often think the only good music is from a certain era (usually the one they grew up in - I believe that's called nostalgia). There has always been music I like and music I don't. I love the Beatles and the Who, Yes and Genesis, Abba and the Stranglers, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and RATM. They're all utterly different and all from different eras. Sure I'll take Yes over Simply Red or Westlife anyday, but I'll take the Chilis and RATM over most 60s and 70s bands. BTW, there was also some great music being made waaaaay before the 60s too. Duke Ellington, Basie, and going back just a bit further, Bach, Mozart and Beethoven, to name just a few. Remember, just because we don't like something personally it doesn't mean it has no worth.

In defense of the naysayers, I will say they look like they are definitely trying to fit in with a lot of the 1-dimensional bands out there. Can't blame 'em.

Do they do anything upbeat that you can dance to? I've never heard of these guys, and I missed the SNL broadcast. I'm not saying they're
bad just a bit undistinguished, I guess is an accurate description.
