Ok - need some help. A peg problem if you will...

A nice old Rick, with the wrong strap pegs, Fender vintage style - similar to these:

The one by the bridge came off easy with a Phillips screwdriver. The one on the horn has a screw head that is totally stripped. I've tried every driver I have and can't get a grip.

How to get it out?

You may need to drill the head out, using a brand-new carbide drill bit exactly equal to or just very slightly larger than the diameter of the smooth part of the screw shaft itself. Ensure that the drill head exactly centers the screw shaft. Once the peg body slips off the screw end, use a pair of ViseGrips to clamp around the screw shaft (near but not touching the body) and ease the screw shaft out, turning of course counter-clockwise. It is about the only way. The screw shaft itself is too small in diameter to let you effectively use a left-handed extraction tool, and either way you bugger up the screw itself. This way, you can save the peg body and get a new screw Image

The screw should drill out easily; use a sharp new 1/4" drill and take it slow. At some point, the head will...

Oh, forget it...Elys has got you covered!
