Thanks Charly... saw them in SF years ago, really great! All the songs from the 1st (self-titled) LP, which this is from, are awesome... Bombay Calling and Hot Summer Day... WOW! I miss those days...
Cheers

I saw them in April '72. They were totally upstaged by Genesis, who opened for them; it was Genesis' first US tour and they had just come out with Foxtrot.

I miss the music, but not "those days." And no, I didn't realize IABD played Rics, either.

I can see why Genesis Foxtrot tour would blow them away! They weren't a top tier band, just a couple of REALLY good tunes IMHO.

I remember that tour, Jeff! I think they played White Bird for about 30 minutes.....or it seemed like it.

They wouldn't play it at all, they even said that they wouldn't when someone in the audience asked them!

I saw these cats twice in Phoenix in the early seventies...once opening for ELO (!) at the legendary Celebrity Theater, and once at Big Surf, "Arizona's Ocean" (!!) At the latter they were on a four band bill that included headliners The Guess Who, Azteca and some bunch of complete unknowns touring their first album...Steely Dan, or some such d*ldo-esque monicker. IABD were quite good both times...my favorite tune of theirs was actually a cover of a Taj Mahal song called "Give Your Woman What She Wants". I seem to recall Tom Fowler on bass, but maybe I'm just makin' that up...it was quite a while ago...
One hilarious detail I recall from the Celebrity show...the venue's circular revolving stage afforded everyone in the crowd close seating which always made for memorable concerts, and I remember seeing one of the players with a rather obvious Holiday Inn key dangling from his pocket..."Hey L-a-a-d-i-e-e-e-s..."

I'm driving to the office this morning and what did I hear on the radio, "White Bird". I can't recall the last time I heard the song played over the airways.

XM 40 Deep Tracks plays it on occasion. I've heard it probably 6-8 times in the last year. Good song.

You like Deep Tracks too. eh? I only tune to that and Bluesville! Don't really need all that extra "stuff"!

I listen to DT, 50s, 60s, Fine Tuning, and XM MusicLab when they had it.... I really miss that one. It will be interesting to see if it comes back if XM and Sirius are allowed to merge.
