Good reviews on Amazon. Also, looks like a new DVD about the making of "Close to the Edge" possibly? That is set for release on 4/3.

Will it have a special feature starring Bill Bruford called "Close To The Exit"?

When I looked up the Montreaux DVD on amazon, there was a special deal to buy that with "Close To The Edge: Rock Milestones", which is described here:

http://www.amazon.com/Close-Edge-Rock-Milestones-Yes/dp/B000LRYT36/ref=pd_bxgy_d_img_b/104-8581139-3892746?ie=UTF8&qid=1175184141&sr=1-1

Release date is listed as 4/3/07.

It's an unauthorized documentary. Not sure how good it's going to be. Here's an overview I found at cduniverse.com....

"
Yes's 1972 album CLOSE TO THE EDGE helped forge the template for progressive rock and reigns as one of the highwater marks of the 1970s. This unauthorized documentary offers a critical review of the prog-rock masterpiece through rare live-performance clips and interviews with leading rock critics and journalists

I would imagine the Close to the Edge DVD is in the vein of the classic albums thing that was done with Dark Side of the Moon.

I have that one and I love it. The members did participate in that though, reflecting on their memories and even had David Gilmour messing around at the mixing boeard showing how they did some of the mixing back then. Very cool DVD.

I just pre-ordered "Close To The Edge: Rock Milestones" on Amazon and they said I might also be interested in "Yes: Total Rock Review (2006)" DVD...

Led Zeppelin: IV (and III)
Moody Blues: Every Good Boy Deserves Favour
ELP: Trilogy
The Who: Who's Next

Feel free to comment or add your own, but that's what I spent grew up on!

Here's a description of Total Rock Review from CD Universe....

"
This critical perspective weighs in on the musical legacy of the British prog-rock giants Yes, assessing the evolution of the band's sound during their first five years--from their 1968 formation to their 1973 album TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS--through rare archival footage, live-performance clips, and interviews with rock critics, musicologists, and former guitarist Steve Howe.
"

Not sure how good this will be either. I think I'd rather start with the CTTE DVD.

Update: I just got "Close To The Edge: Rock Milestones" in he mail yesterday from Amazon. Just finished watching it tonight. Not so great. I have no idea who the guys were who were offering their opinions about the album. There is one interview with Steve Howe that is seen in pieces throughout the 60 minute show. Maybe 4 minutes of him altogether. Many clips from Yessongs and "Live in Philadelphia 1979" (that show was a few days before I saw them for the first time at the Boston Garden), and clips from a 1981 audio tape interview with Jon Anderson.

No even close to the Dark Side of the Moon DVD. What do you want for unauthorized though, I suppose.

I'd give it 1 star.

I did also order the Montreaux DVD, so that's next to watch.

The 9012LIVE DVD is a pretty good one too. Other than the fact that everyone in the band appears to have raided the Chess King down at the Four Corners Mall prior to the show, it's got some very tight performances.

lol -chess king-haven't thought about that place in years-yes i did spend some money in there myself a time or two. chris's "doctor" outfit for that tour was especially cheesey...in the "i wish" department,i would love to hear a live version of "our song" from 90125...

totally! i was amazed or horrified when Tony Kaye was walking around with his "where's the beef' t-shirt after the show. and Squire is portrayed as the definite hard-guy, ball buster. who knows. funny backstage stuff...
