This is getting nutty,

Here is the deal, I have this MINT 81 4001 Walnut. Almost NO playtime on it. Seems the NUT and saddles were cut off center way back when and the G string kept sliding off of the neck. That seems to explain it's little use.

I ordered a NUT from RIC but my luthier said he needs to cut special grooves into it to get the strings moved over a bit.

HE only has WHITE, bone, Ivory, you name it, but NO BLACK nuts available in house that fit the 4001 in height. He doens't want to SHIM the nut, he asked if me IF I could find a BLACK UNCUT NUT. He's checking his suppliers, I'm checking here.
I'm TRYING to keep this baby as ORIGINAL as possible.

Truetone Music here in Santa Monica put one on my 4-2-5 4003, so it must have been blank. They are authorized RIC, and on the web
