Why a 370 if Roger only uses 1 pickup

I read an article in which Roger McGuinn said he only used the treble (bridge) pickup. He said he never uses the other positions. I assume this is true because:

A) Why would he lie

B) I have seen him several times. Once I was about 10 feet away. And sure enough, he only used the down position on the selector switch.

So my question is this:

If he only uses the treble pickup, why have a 3 pickup guitar???

Am I missing something?

Because 370s are super-deluxe, sweet, and all around objects of desire.

Well Rick didn't make a single pickup 360. so Roger started with two.

And he thought that John's 325 looked to cool with 3 pickups(don't we all). So he had one added.

I also learned from an interview that he requested that his Signature 370RM have only one pickup. Rickenbacker negotiated with him to include the other two for authenticity sake.

If Roger really only wanted 1 PU, I think Rick could have said," OK, just for You, we'll put 1 PU on it, but how about putting unwound coil PUs under the other 2 covers, just for aesthetics".
This could have been done easily, and would have
looked totally stock[appeasing the public], but
giving Roger all he needs at the same time.On production models they could have used 3 real PUs,
[as they did].
