Here are a some MP3's with my new Dakota setup. There is a Hi Gain in the neck position and a humbucker in the bridge position. I am going to split the coils on the bridge pickup next time I heat up my soldering iron.

Thanks for putting up with my playing style. I know it can be annoying at times, but I hope you can hear the differences in the pickups clearly.

Very nice, Jeff. I'm a 650 (A) owner myself. The new pickup does change it a bit. The sounds through the Vox and Fender are great! The Marshall sound (my least favorite) is worth mentioning because of the harmonic squeal the 650 emits. Tear it up brother. Good job with the pickups.

The 650+Marshall JCM 200 combo sounds bad-assed and ultra modern rock, IMHO.

I just DL'd the fender clip - If that first take is the Hi-gain - you made a good call! Warm yet articulate. Downloading the AC-15 now.

Profjeff: Very interesting and informative. A fine tutorial on the tonal differences between the high gain and humbucking pickups on the Rickenbacker solid body. Your sound is great they way it is. I would be interested in knowing why you want to split the coil in the humbucker in the bridge position?

The Marshall is a JMC 2000, DSL 201, twenty watt recording amp with an aftermarket Celstion Grennback (GREAT mod for the 201/401). No such thing as a JCM 200! All of my main amps are 20 watters and have EL 84's in the driving the power amp (I'm a huge fan of EL 84 loaded amps). Even the Fender has a pair of THD Yellow Jackets with Tesla EL 84's.

Thanks for listening...all clips feature neck, brdige then both pickups together, in that order. No effects except for the onboard tremolo on the AC 15 and the usual MP3 artifacts. I used a GT AM 62 large diaphragm, tube driven condensor mic placed slightly off center to the speakers. As I mentioned previously, I do a lot of recording and those 15-20 watt amps are great because you can crank 'em up and use a condensor mic without damaging it. I also use these lower powered amps with our worship band miked with a Shure SM 57. Our worship center seats about 300, and everthing balances pretty well--drums, keys, bass, acousitic (my lovely wife plays acoustic) and electric guitar--plenty of cool Rickenbacker 6 and 12 string tones). We play modern Christian rock, two services every Sunday...and I need to get back for the second set:-) Go Broncos (and take the Rockies and Nuggets with you)!

DOH! No such thing as a Grennback either. That, of course, should read "Greenback," but you figured it out, I'm sure.

Jeffrey: I installed a high gain in the neck position on my Model 350 last month. I have to say it gives a very warm tone and goes well with a humbucker in the bridge position and a toaster in the middle position.
