As some of you might remember, my 330DCM arrived with a cracked pickguard. It was finally replaced but the color of the bottom piece doesn't match the top.
RIC has offered to replace but before I send them back I was wondering whether I should just keep it the way it is or not.

Does it look ridiculous or maybe there is some panache to it after all and keep it as one-of-a-kind.

Mark, this was caused by a batch mismatch in the paint on these guards. Uppers and lowers were painted on two separate days with quite different temperature and humidity conditions in my booth. A few went out this way before we caught this and the lighter parts have been replaced with the darker in RIC stock.

As Kenny has probably told you, you can send in that upper for one which will be a proper match to the lower. Personally, I think it looks a bit strange...

Just to be clear, the original upper and lower did match in color. But the lower was one of the cracked ones.
The replacement did not match.

As I said, Kenny told me that you/they will re-paint and replace. Was just wondering if maybe I'd avoid the trouble and keep it this way. But you're probably right. I'd probably get funny looks from people with it.

Mark, sorry I did not get back to you about the color difference I found on my replacement as well. I found the replacement to be a little darker depending on the light, but your's seems more dramatic.

Paul, hat's off to you for your candor and graciousness. It's a great comfort to know that you & RIC have our back on this issue.

Mark: in my opinion I get the original matching pickguard wile you can. You can always mess around with other color schemes later on (Pickguardian and such).

If you don't get them to match now years in the future if you end up selling it for some unforeseen reason no one will believe that it is all original...

Mark and I spoke. He's already pulled his guards and sent them in to Kenny for a replacement. Guards in my possession not meeting color specs have been destroyed and replaced with new ones.
