Hey Woody! Very Cool! I love my 4004!!! I will put in the concentrics to control each pickup, but the switch stays.

Good for you Woody. I am on the lookout for an original 4004Ci for my son. He is still threatening to steal mine.

i like the idear of the vvt mod myself-i have a jazz bass and an epiphone embassy and find that setup to be really simple/intuitive to use. i have one bass,a danelectro hodad, that has a single concentric volume/tone,and don't actually care much for using it(i tend to crank the wrong part of the knob) altho it IS a great sounding bass. i am looking forward to hearing the hb-1's.

Well, my idea is to set the neck vol/tone exactly as I like it solo'd, same with the bridge, make sure they are equal in output, and then just use the switch during performance to switch in and out of my 3 favorite tones!
The cool part of this setup, for me, is I can get additional variations out of whether I use a pick or not, and where my right hand is "plucking/picking.

I have a full set of chrome 4004 hardware if you are interested.....it was taken off my JG Laredo the day it arrived in favor of black.
Congrats on the score BTW!

thanks, brian! i may be talkin' to ya about the hardware later....chrome would be the best look for the maple finish,as far as i'm concerned. going by your and others comments,i think i am going to love the sound of the mellow cii sandwich-this one also has an unfinished fretboard and longish 2 tone headstock-can't wait!!!

Thanks Charly,
Do you know if the new Cii's are arriving with the pickups up against the neck or spaced away from the neck?

Woody, I received pics of that bass from Mike a while back- it is indeed a great looking bass especially with the contrasting wings on the headstock. Enjoy your new RIC!
