Hi Guys- Perhaps this has been brought up before; ever notice "The Monkees" being said at these times during the song: 1:08, 1:15, 1:19, 1:26, 1:52, & 2:02? We all know of course the song is about the idea of a "Manufactured band", etc. I guess Chris & Roger have denied and confirmed this story at various times, but I would LOVE to hear input here!!! In case any Monkee fans are upset, I'd like to add that Michael Nesmith is my all time favourite vocalist, and one of my fave writers!:D) And of course, "Byrds are best"! Thanks, Christian Bryan

Is this another one of those "I buried Paul" jokes? I haven't heard the original recording in years.

I hear it, vaguely. Maybe it's just because they lifted the fans audio from some Monkees related appearance?

That's what I've heard; the screams are either from a Monkees or Byrds show, not sure which (If either), but the phrase IS in there! Keep listening at the aforementioned times! Christian

Umm, guys, Johnny Rogan said in his Byrds bio that Derek Taylor said the screams were from a 60s British concert[Bournemouth?]"Good British screams" was the quote...So Who actually has the correct answer???

That would be some bonus track, to isolate the concert sounds.

There are some funny audible audience bits on live albums. On the Band's Live at Watkins Glen you can hear someone say, numerous times, "don't just stand there you a**holes, play something!"

I wonder if whoever said that has the album.

I always thought that that was someone professing their love for the band, not saying "The Monkees."

Put on the headphones guys; and listen to the one especially at 2:02 (Right at the fadeout) That's when it's clearest. It also sounds like the same loop being repeated at all the aforementioned times. Christian

It sort of sounds like the "Mon" part is audible after somebody says "Go". Also, while doing the headphone thing, I heard a piano part I'd never realized existed in the left channel of "Have You Seen Her Face". Cool...

It's deliberate gibberish. The Byrds were just goofing on all the backward loops and psychedelic pretensions that were in vogue at the time. The crashing piano keys were also part of the overall recording experiment, or as Roger McGuinn has said, "sort of a Stockhausen idea."

I remember clearly, when SYWTBARRS was new, asking my self, "Why are they screaming Monkees"? And that was on a a beat up turntable with at best a 6x9 speaker!
