Guitar Stand opinions

I know this is a topic that is hashed over quite a bit. But,,, I'm finally going out a buy a couple of high quality stands to be used exclusively for my RIC basses.

What do you all recommend? Obviously I dont want anything that will damage the finish.

Did I see John Hall recommend "Ultimate" stands? Or was I imagining things? Maybe it was "Hercules"?

I've always liked the Fender Mini Electric Guitar Stand. It's inexpensive ($20) and unobtrusive.

But for home display, I think the best way to go is the wall mount of some kind.

I have the Ultimate stands and am quite pleased with them. Very portable when folded and really holds on to the guitar well. Also around $20.

I think JH stated that Ultimate and Hercules stands are safe for finshes.
I've been using Ultimate stands for many years, never had a problem.
As Jeffrey shows, the RIC case stand is a very safe way to go.

I don't know John, that scares me a little. The only support is on the neck. It's probably why I am not fond of wall hangers either.

I have seven Hercules wall hangers right here in my office (you can imagine just how much serious work gets done in here) and they've done fine for a couple of years. I keep my acoustics in cases with humidifiers, but all my basses and electrics hang on hangers. If it was going to damage them, I'd think I'd have seen it by now. I like them because they pretty much guarantee that I can't accidentally spaz-out and knock one out of it's hanger. I did, however, pitch those silly little drywall anchors that they come with and attach each one to the wall with two 3.5" stainless deck screws into the studs. Standard stud spacing works quite well. I like their stands as well, but have a goofy 106 lb. black lab wandering around. If I don't accidentally knock one over, he will, but in a safer environment I think they'd work great.

If you remember the Ricks hanging at the factory museum, about half were using the Hercules wall hangers. If JH thinks it is ok to hang by the neck with that collection of rare instruments, that's good enough for me.

Don't confuse me with the facts. I had a perfectly fine phobia going until you guys showed up!

Ultimate stands. I will try and post a pic later today of the model I use. I have left guitars and basses including my ricks on these in my living room for periods over one year and have never had any issues with finish reaction.

I second the Quik Lok stands that Jeff S. uses. I also have one that holds 5 guitars and the two bottom rails swivel so I can put my doubleneck in the same rack with single necks.

I got this idea from Mandolin Bros: I drilled plant hooks into the walls, and bought some of these leather straps with spaces for the tuners. The guitars just hang and no worries about finish damage.
