Oh, man, another voice of humor and high-contrast reason moves on.

I remember discovering his work in high school and being entertained and expanded at the same time.

I remember feeling out of sorts during a long stay in Brazil--English language books were hard to find and the ones I found were boring and expensive.

Then, in a crummy little used bookstore in Botafogo, Rio, I picked up a first edition paperback of "Sirens of Titan", which I'd never read and which was written while he was still employed as a copywriter for General Electric in Schenectady...price was less than a dollar.

And I was once again connected to the body of his work, through a book written in the mid-Fifties, and stylistically was the same as anything and everything he was to write, straight through to the end.

RIP, Kurt.

I want to be pithy and it isn't in me right now. I'm just glad he lived to a ripe old age. I'll miss him, but he left us a lot to think about, along with many deeply uncomfortable belly laughs.

Perhaps he simply fell into his own chronosynclastic infundibulum.

I too discovered his work in HS. I quickly went out and devoured more of his writings. He will be missed.
