Legit bass jackplates?

Hey, I'm not a bass player but I noticed some guy on ebay selling about 14 different 70's bass jackplates all with different serial numbers. I'm not much of a computer person so I don't know how to link to it but I was wondering if this is legit or is the guy just stamping them out himself? It just seems odd he'd have so many of the same item at the same time. Thanks.

Brian, have a look at the thread in the For Sale section, under "Stolen Goods?".

Doc Pitillo is a longtime OC luthier, with a shop not far from RIC headquarters.
He is not stamping these out. There was a time when you could buy these from the factory without a trade, and without getting an "XXX" serial number indicating a reissue.
These auctions appear to be legit.

I kept track of these numbers. I have a few more from other auctions. I'm going to keep a small database for the numbers. The dates are 75-79 and they all look like mint.

I've been to his shop, he has a mountain of parts from all kinds of manufacturers.
