Shops in Buffalo and environs

A buddy and myself are heading over the border on the weekend for a day of guitar/gear shopping - window shopping mostly. We'll be popping into Jackson Music in Grand Island NY and thought we might jump over to Buffalo to check out some places, if it's worthwhile. I see that Music City is an authorized Ric dealer in Buffalo. Worth checking out there? Any other good shops worth the trek? We wouldn't want to go more than say, a half hour or so out of our way from there.

While I'm at it, any good recommendations for Indian food in the area?!

Haha, I live in buffalo, and I have no idea where anything is. Hahaha. I have my bass, and that's it, no money for anything else, so I don't go looking for anything.

Bill, have you ever been to Rochester? I've heard that House of Guitars is pretty cool.
Never been gear hunting in Buffalo, let me know if you find any good shops.
And if you want good Indian food, you're driving in the wrong direction on the QEW. Seriously, who goes to Buffalo for Indian? It's wings 3 meals a day while you're there.

I've never been to Rochester, no but it's a little far afield for our day trip I think - What is it 120-150 km from Buffalo? Maybe some others here can chime in on the House of Guitars for future reference. I know lots of great Indian places in Torornto (I presume that's what you mean by other way on the QEW?) but I thought there must be something in Buffalo-the guy I'm going with it is mad about Indian food. Maybe a little bar that serves wings vindaloo?

Never been to Music City Nate? It's at 3236 Main Street, at Main and Winspear. Looking at Mapquest, it looks like it's outside of the city proper, towards Amherst. That works well as I'll be coming from Grand Island. According to the Ric website (recent shipments), they've received a 620 and a 330 both in JG. Hope they're unclaimed and ready for trial-I've never tried a 620 and have wanted to.

The House of Guitars is a cool place! It should "only" be about an hour drive from Buffalo. I don't know anything about stores in Buffalo though.

Rochester is a little over an hour from Buffalo. I know people who make pilgrimages to House of Guitars. It's kind of legendary, and somewhat insane, from what I've heard.
There's a GC not far from Music City, and another guitar shop in the same neighbourhood.

The Anchor Bar(for wings) isn't far from there either. (1047 Main St)

House of Guitars is worth the trip by itself. It's not your typical store. WELL worth the extra hour.

I just went to Jackson Music the other day. I didn't see ANY Rics, and didn't ask. Are they still considered a dealer? As I remember, they always had at least one bass, and a couple of guitars.

They're still a dealer I believe. I too didn't see any when I was there on the weekend. They were recently shipped a 330/12 and I was hoping to see it. Maybe it was already ordered or scooped up quickly.
