If I sing the reply, people will leave the room.

When I do this, I remove the guard and buff it in my buffing machine...if you want to do it by hand, fine white polishing compound on a soft cotton cloth, should take the worst of them out. Follow up with Scratch-X and Zymol.

I bet you had a hunch I was gonna suggest this, Todd.

Yes--Wax! It is the best protectant you can use for pickguards...

That's pretty much what I figured, but I wanted to be sure before going at it with any kind of abrasive. The guard on my old rosewood Tele came with a lot of fine scratches and it would be nice to get rid of most of them. I have Perfect-It 3000, 3M "Imperial Hand Glaze, Scratch-X and Zymol, so hopefully they'll do the trick.

Never underestimate the value of a Rickenbacker acrylic pick guard and it's ability to withstand scratching.

Fender and Gibson pickguards are vinyl plastic(soft) while Rickenbackers are acrylic(hard)

Sure, Paul, no problem. Prine's older than me and a lot shorter....I think I can take him....
Here's a link to the original (real) version for those who've never heard the song.

You mean John Prine wrote a song about Scratch-X and Zymol?

I'm considering it. "Sixteen Candles" is getting a bit long in the tooth...

Yeah, that was so, like, Two-Years-Ago......

Time to switch to Alice Cooper's "Eighteen", Paul Image

Me, I am still trying to figure out what I'm gonna be when I grow up....
