My first 4001FG was a '78, great sound (even with cap), heavy axe, but easy to kill with Kramer round wounds(neck-fingerboard separation) as I did not know anything about Ricks those days. My '74 4001FG now is much lighter, taking every r(p)oundwounds with out any neck bow, also the sound is better in my opinion (memory), but this may be attributable to the better amps nowadays.
