Swapping Grovers for 'standard' Ric keywinds

looks like i'll be getting my hands on a '82 4001. it is one of the anomalies w/ Wavy Grovers, a good thing, but one is broken.
options are trying to track down an E/A Grover or to replace the keywinds with a 'standard' set. i'd prefer to the first option obviously - but if this doesn't happen, is the swap painless? that is, will i need to increase or shim the bores in the headstock? will the new tuners will fit or cover the Grover screw holes?
