Still the bass volume knob missing, his luthier didn't have one?

Now at least the two slanted J-Bass-PUs are gone. If it was again the same luthier who did this cruelty to the bass, I really wonder what neck PU he used this time? The modern amplification can cope with all Rick PUs and still leaves the original sound characteristics at least.

Yep, it's Bernie.

I believe the original mods were done by that Dawk guy who modded also Ronnie Dio's EB3 and Graig Gruber's non-reverse T-Bird and Joey DeMaio's 4001. Roger wanted more bass and said to Dawk that he liked the Jazz pickups or something. I wonder if they knew about the cap then? And if it still has the cap on?

Looks like Roger should have had Dale or Paul do the work on this bass!

That pickguard looks cheesy and too big. I know there are some serious body routes on it, but those could have been filled before the JG was sprayed.

I think that neck pickup is too wide to be a Bart.

Also note:

--Big honkin' Schaller M4S type tuners

--Hipshot bridge

It very well could be a Bart, just not the RIC replacement model. I have a bart that looks exactly like that...I think it's a one-off, or something long discontinued, since I've never seen this particular model in their catalog. It's a fantastic pickup, and it used to be in the bridge position of my 4001...would've been great in the neck, too...deep, with great clarity.

I was thinking one of the Bart guitar HBs.

Ahhh, okay. I figured they probably came in other shapes and sizes!
