Fall colors....

Post by melibreits »

Over the weekend my family went for a walk in the woods; the maple trees are in their full glory right now. My 6-year-old son picked up a leaf and said, "Look, mom, it's a Fireglo!" And it really was perfect fireglo shading.... I had to laugh! So then we found a few more leaves in Ric colors:

FIREGLO

BURGUNDYGLO

AUTUMNGLO

GOLDENGLO

That last one, "Goldenglo" is a color I would love to see on a Ric sometime.... I imagine a transparent (so you can see the wood grain) golden yellow finish shading to light brown on the edges, just like the leaf.... It would look really pretty on an instrument with white binding, especially a bound soundhole. Well, I suppose it could happen someday?

No wonder we all feel so strongly about Rickenbackers!

It has to do with that primal instinct within us all to "stay in touch with Mother Nature"!Image

A few more weeks and they'll all be autumnglo, and next spring they'll all be jetglo, in the compost pile!

Blue Boys should be renamed sky blue, turquoise, well...turquoise (occuring naturally in nature). How about lemon yellow, orange orange and pink hearts? The Rickenbacker Lucky Charms Collection.(forgive me it's been one long slow day here at work).

Melissa: This is very creative. I love the concept and your presentation. A novel idea and I agree completely with Alvaro, about the connection with nature. Rickenbacker uses beautiful woods and has taken particular care in their selection and preparation.

Your son is surely on the right track to getting his Fireglo 12 string.

The more I look at it, the more I feel a 4001 C64 (S or not) would look KILLER in that "GoldenGlo" color!

Can you dig it?

I knew that you could!

This thread raises the question of who originally thought of the name "Fireglo"? Kenny, John?

Thanks, everyone.... Alvaro, I couldn't agree more! Maybe somebody from RIC will see this post and make "Goldenglo" a future color of the year! ;) ....Right after Blueburst! LOL!

No problem Melissa, I love the way you think, and I think that I've seen a finish much like your "Goldenglo" on an old Les Paul! But it would look much better on a Rick, although I suspect that if you ask them for this finish, as busy as they are now, they will ask you to leaf them alone...;~)

Nice work, Melissa! Now, why not an Azureglo view of Lake Superior or a pic of the Jetglo night sky above Grand Marais harbor?
