Roland GK pickup?

Hello everyone,
has anybody ever tried to put one of these on a Rickenbacker bass?
I would like to put a GK-3B on my 77' 4001, but I don't know if it will work. Normally these things have to be installed very close to the bridge, which is not possible on a 4001, although it would probably work on a 4004.
