The second one of Geddy Lee's double necks

Okay we all know that Geddy had Two Rickenbacker 4080 double necks: a Jetglo 4080/12 which was modified with Gibson Humbuckers in the guitar section and a Leo Quann Badass bridge in the bass section. The second one was a mapleglo 4080 with the same mods used presumably as a spare. The Jetglo 4080/12 was donated to a museum but the mapleglo apparently never left Geddy's posession.

Look closely behind that Ovation accoustic on the far left of the picture.
The one reason I can think of why Geddy didn't take that one out for Rush's recent tours is because it doesn't have the 12 string neck needed for songs like "Xanadu" too bad really, I'm sure a lot of fans would love to see him appear with a rick double neck on stage again.

I had always thought it was white for a long time, but I do believe it is Mapleglo. It also had humbuckers like Dimarzios installed and a Badass for the bass bridge. I always saw him use the black one, never the white one on stage, but it was there...they used to take SO much stuff with them.

I could have sworn I saw a white one too...

This is the best pic I could find, can't see any wood grain so I'm unsure about mapleglo here. Also found a cool pic of the black one...

I've played Geddy's Jet-Glo 4080... No, I don't know Geddy other than having met him at a couple of functions...
He gave that bass, some keyboards, his Steinberger and some more cool stuff to their photographer Andrew. And he used to live down the road from me. As far as I know, that particular 4080 is still with Andrew. And since Andrew is now in California, I know I won't be seeing it again! *pout*
It was truly lovely!!!

The second one is white. He used it on Passage to Bangkok on the PeW tour. I've never seen him with a mapleglo 4080. I believe the one in the MFH promo shots is the white on turned cream. No skunk stripes.
He does have a maple 4002...

Here's why I think it's MG now..
If any of you have the tour program from the R30 tour (the last one they were on) there is a picture of Geddy holding the 4080/6, similar to the one Mark posted above but from a different angle. You can see the headstock wings on the 6-string peghead(you can also see it a little in the pic in this thread), and of course the guitar neck doesn't have a skunk stripe. But, you can see wood and if it was white you wouldn't see that.
I was in the camp of it being white for years myself, but now I dunno....

Yeah, I'm with Pascoe. What's so special about 'em?

I saw them several times back in the mid to late '70's. I remember he always had a "bright white" 4080 sitting offstage, a backup I guess. I only saw him play it once though.
Maybe he had 3? Jetglo, White and Mapleglo?
I was as into Rickenbackers as much back then as I am now. You'd really have to throw some hard evidence out there to get me to believe it was Mapleglo.

A bit off-topic, but how about Geddy's two 4001s? The earlier (his first) JG with a 1/2" neck PU spacing and the later JG which he seemed to favour from "Hemispheres" onwards. The pic above shows the later one on his studio wall (a bad pun, I know), maybe it just replaced the earlier?

I also think his earlier one was dark burgandy.
(eggplant-glo).
Look at the pics in "All the Worlds a Stage" in one pic,,,,I dunno, maybe its just the lighting, but it looks like vintage burgandy to me.

Geddy also had a white 4001 with black trim ... and he is supposed to also have a 4003 ... and he had at least one 3001 as well ...

He has never sold anything. All of these exist in storage. The photo post by Gearhed289 is from his home basement studio.

Not entirely true Mike. Les Claypool has a white with black trim Rick 4001 which used to belong to Geddy, it has the Badass modification and Les had Geddy sign it.
As for how Les Claypool sounds on a rick, you can hear it on "Greasy granny's gravy gopher" and "Driving rain" of Gov't Mule's "Off the deep end part 2" This youtube clip has the latter and it's a steaming rocker with guest vocals from Metallica's James Hetfield

Imagine: a Primus show with Claypool playing a Rick.
