What a very nice looking 1967 Model 4001 in classic Fireglo finish. The fretmarkers are certainly a highlight of this instrument. I would love to have seen a closeup of the binding.

I think it is priced a little high ...
although I hope it sells for a lot because then it makes my '68 worth more ..

Yes, some close ups would have been nice. Not only of the binding but the horseshoe too! I'm facinated with the older ones. I even know a guy at the power station that would re-charge it. If I only had $5000...

I'd be willing to take a chance on re-charging one but you always run a risk of the charge actually making it weaker. I would feel terrible if I ruined someone elses vintage pickup. Now if someone wanted to donate one in the name of science... nod nod wink wink!

I wonder if this is the same bass that had a thread here about 6 months ago. That was a 67...what are the chances of another 67 in London. It,s a rare year for basses, and the horseshoe has the long taper on the surround. In fact anything pre 68 is really hard to find these days. I think they wanted 3500 sterling then, this one rounds out to about 2850 pounds now. Big $$ either way, but a cool bass that looks in great condition. For what it is, and compared to some prices I,ve seen in the U.K. for fairly common Ric gear,(like a mid 70,s 4001 that was 1250 pounds this summer) it seems far more attractive in terms of value for money... We,ll see if it sells. Surely you need better pics if your serious about selling on the bay for this amount...
