The Beatles Anthology is a classic. I just watched it for the first time and I can't even put into words how it affected me. I was going to just take it a bit at a time over a couple of weeks, but once I started I couldn't stop. I was moved beyond almost any other movie or book. I didn't know I liked the Beatles that much, and maybe I wouldn't have if I hadn't seen the Anthology.

I have found amongst many of my friends who have borrowed the Anthology DVD set from me, the same reaction David!
They all didn't realise just how many songs the Beatles recorded, let alone how many HITS! A classic piece of music history!
I have watched it many times over, and am still in awe of the achievments of the FABS!

Welcome to the forum David, from all of us in Oz!

I think what I like most about Anthology are the recollections from Paul, George and Ringo where they each remember the same event differently.

Or when they didn't remember something at all. Or how about Ringo remembering that he'd met Elvis many times, but he wasn't sure, maybe that was just all at the same one time?

When I said I didn't know I liked the Beatles that much, I meant as people. I knew about their music, but assumed that they were the usual cynical rock stars. But they seemed very genuine and mostly normal, if scarred from the battles of the 60s.

Speaking of the battles, and I don't just mean among themselves, I also noticed the change that happened in them as the pressures of fame, drugs, and all that took their toll. I think surviving Beatlemania must have been very difficult.

Can you believe how young they looked in Anthology? I can't believe the series is older than my youngest son

I'm surprised I haven't worn out the disks. I watch this almost anytime I feel like relaxing...never get tired of it.

Riley, I'm sure it's posted here somewhere, but tell me about the DC version--what extras do you get?

It still seems new to me, but it has been over ten years since it came out! That's hard to believe.

Time flys by so fast the older you get. I just turned 43 Saturday, and it seems only yesterday I was 23!

I was thinking the same thing. They were all born in the very early '40s, so by the time they appeared on Ed Sullivan, a couple of them were barely old enough to vote.

Thanks John! I've always wanted to order the DVD set with the bonus footage, and you just gave me the excuse my wife will go for -- "It's on sale!". I have the 10-year-old VHS set, and the tapes are showing their age.

Here we are talking about stuff that's "old" -- including prized VHS tape sets! Huh? What happened? Time flies too dang fast....

Jerry,
My pleasure...Like my pal Bill Mahony, I've about worn out my DVDs...maybe I'll order a backup set...like strings only different!

Greg,
40 years? Tell me its not so...I still remember getting it for a present like it was yesterday!
