Has anyone came across this on e-bay?

Its a 4005 Natural Vintage 1967 Bass Guitar. The asking price is £8,999.00 (thats EUR 13,170.49 or US$17,714.84)

For what it's worth, yes I believe I've seen that 4005 up for sale before.
If he keeps it out on the street like that someone is going to walk off with it.

Ha ha! I'm guessing thats just a cardboard cutout of the real thing. Thats serious money hes looking for it though.

that's more than I paid for John Entwistle's identical instrument, which is in "The kids are alright" movie... maybe (maybe!) that makes mine the most seen 4005 ever...(I say again maybe)....so - maybe - someone is asking too much for that one.........................

21 frets?? I only counted 20.... He's had it long enough to get the ad right.

Actually, in the 1968 Rick catalog, of which I now have an original copy, it lists ALL 4000 series basses as having 21 frets, although in reality all 4000 series had only 20 frets in 1967 and 1968. In fact the only year any Rick basses have ever actually had 21 frets was a brief time in 1970 and the first three months or so of 1971 (I own one of these 21-fretters too, a Jan 1970 one, too). Whomever is responsible for putting that catalog together at Rickenbacker in 1968 apparently is listing the nut as a fret, I suppose, or else is engaging in very "creative" marketing

Maybe they were counting the spaces???
It just struck me as bad to say 21 frets in big bold then have a pic of the instrument that clearly shows it is 20 frets, and be asking that kind of money and not being more exact. What else is not right? Know what I mean?

I took a very close look at my 1968 4001 too, and I couldn't see how they could have possibly marketed that bass as having 21 frets
Of course, THIS one below (my Jan 1970 4001) actually DOES have 21 frets, Andy!

I've seen that 4005 up there for a really long time, and judging by the price tag, it's going to stay for a really long time.
