Neck on 1978 4001

Hello Mark, Thanks for your help with my CW 12 string. A friend would now like me to correct a slight underbow on his 1978 4001. These have the old rod system, and i dont want to damage the neck. Where shall i begin. thanks Rob Ashford.,
