Black Schaller-Kluson style keywinds...how many?

I own an '86 620/12MGBT which came with Black Schaller Kluson-style keywinds. I just purchased a set of 6 "extras" from the RIC-Outlet. It has taken me 12 years to "find" these machines. Does anyone know how long RIC used them in '86 before switching to the M-6 Minis in black? Any info would be appreciated. Kenny Howes said he wasn't sure how many were used, but that it couldn't have been very long. I guess I've got a semi-collectible Rickenbacker! (ha) Thanks, Mike

black trim made it appearance in the 70s I believe ... at first it was just the pickguard and trc ... then we saw black binding, then black metal ... black trim was discontinued about 2002 ... Ric still makes black trcs and there are 3rd parties making black pickguards ... you can have chrome ric parts sand blasted and powder coated black and you can order black tuners that fit some ric models from various sources ...

Those tuners are really pretty darn rare. I had never even seen a set with my own eyes until the RIC Outlet auctions started.
By the way, I deliberately avoid those auctions on Ebay. I just can not stomach watching that stuff sell to people who are not me.

Yeah. It takes something which is more scarce these days than it used to be.

Which is why I don't have a 70's 4001.
