Hi, all:

I should be receiving my new AMBER FIREGLO 360 soon. I ordered it a little over a year ago. The last 360 I owned was from 1967. I did not get a chance to try out any new models here in Connecticut because nobody has them!!!!!

Anyway, on faith and love for Rickenbackers, I ordered the 360. Is there any appreciable DIFFERENCE in SOUND after 40 years??? Has anyone detected any differences, however subtle???

well... You'll have hi gain pickup, thats quite a big change.

That'd be the big difference. Modern Rickenbackers come equipped with RIC's Higain pickups. If you're looking to better approximate a vintage sound, you can replace these with RIC's vintage Toaster pickups, which are available from Rickenbacker.

Where did you order it from?
In the future, check out Banko's in Ansonia and Caruso Music in New London for Ricks. I have had good experiences with Banko's in the past, although they keep their Ricks in their cases and out of their main area (so they may not appear to have any.) All you have to do is ask to try one and if they have one they will let you know.
I'm pretty sure that I am one of the only people that ever goes there looking for Ricks now, since they haven't had a shipment since they got my 360/12 FG last year. The owner is a really nice guy, though, and I like giving business to small shops.
I've only been to Caruso's once or twice, and they seemed to have at least one of the main models there (330, 4003.) in the past, and at one point someone had ordered a 360/12c63. They are probably worth checking out, too.
Use Sam Ash as a last resort, since they almost never have Ricks in stock, and when they do, they are hung up at the top of their guitar wall and their staff members are usually nowhere to be found.
