I found an early 90's 360/6 v64 FG w/HSC in a pawn shop. A few chips and nicks on the fretboard and the face of the guitar, been abused a bit. Neck might need to be stripped and refretted, at least a dressing. May be perfect for new paint job, think Tuxedo. I would rate the guitar a 5/6 or maybe 6/7 in its present condition. I can restore it myself, I'm thinking a few hundred. The pawnshop owner seems to think its in the 900+ range. Not sure what to offer, looking for members opinions of value before negotiating.
Nine-hundred seems a little steep for a guitar in that condition. Mint examples are selling for anywhere between $1400 and $1600 U.S.D. If your time is worth more than the $200 (on balance) that it's likely to save you, I'd continue to look elsewhere. The only possible motivation for getting this guitar would be if you really, genuinely take pleasure in restoring and customizing mistreated guitars. I don't see it as a "steal" by any means. If he were willing to come down to the $700 level, I'd reconsider.
Okay, maybe I'm way off base here. Someone on ebay is willing to pay $610 U.S.D. for a totally smashed Pete Townshend limited edition (cf. "Pete Townshend Smashed!"). I'm now starting to think that $900 for a chipped (but functional) 360v64 is a pretty good deal.
