I have been given a V63 treble pickup surround by fellow Forum member & friend Pete Greenwood. So having put this on and buying the vintage style,volume/tone pots from Rosetti and also cut a slot into the pickup cover to give the look of a horseshoe. So i have started to turn my '92 into a V63 style bass. All i need to do now is buy a V63 scratchplate and either change my Hi gain into a Toaster or buy a Toaster pickup. My question is has anyone done this to their 4003 and what did it look like,so i wil have a rough idea what the end project will look like.

Hi, Shawn. I'm in the process of doing that now with a 4001S and a horseshoe. The project will not be completed until after I return from England next month, but a report and pictures will follow. I am also having Sergio build me a custom toaster for the neck pup. Pete's helped me with some good information as well and we're hoping to meet up with him and Seyes on our trip.

Hi,
Jim, Shawn, why dont we just club together and buy the triple neck steel off ebay and have horse shoe feeding frenzy!!
Seriously though if you could get a re-issue set of shoes from someone on the forum,Jim could bring them over.
Looking forward to meeting up.

Hello Jim,as soon as i put the surround on, (the holes did'nt match up so new holes were needed)i thought why not carry on and do a V63 style 4003.Pete is helpfull with information, and if you do get chance to watch Seyes you will enjoy it they are good.I am going to watch them in July here in Bolton.

Shawn that show in Bolton is the ONE DAY that I'm not available due to a wedding we're attending Image
But I plan to meet up with Pete once we arrive, as the rest of our trip is fairly open. Hey, Pete, how about a big show in Kidlington? We can raise money to help forum member track down Nick Thiel!

This is close to what you are doing, I suppose:

The surround is a real '60s HS surround. The PG is from Pickguardian.
