This is why when you've damaged your guitar, you should take it to a professional repairman and don't try and fix it yourself.

"try and fix it yourself."

I am not sure this qualifies as "fixing"!!!!!

THat is the most..... surprising ......method of reinforcing the neck to the body that I have EVER seen in all my years of avoiding guitar abuse. I cannot verify that there were no guitars harmed in the making of that movie.

In fact, this is the most cruelly butchered 59 LP that I could ever imagine there being. There isn't enough of it left to distantly interest me in trying last-minute life-saving heroic measures. But, from the bids, there are some who think they can save it.

Looks like they're really just bidding on the pickups, etc.
That has to be the worst mess yet.
There's not much left to fix!

It is restorable, and if I was a GibbieGuy I'd bid on it in a heartbeat...That is the only year they made that model in a double-cut.

A fresh can of spray paint and maybe polish up those clamps and you're good to go.

Hey Paul, that turnbuckle neck-pocket-tensioning system was used on how many different guitars? Image

Anybody else notice this LP that's probably worth a couple of bucks.

At least fourteen.

About the first one:

I wonder how long it will take the external truss tensioning system to catch on.

That strikes me as a bad guitar to play nekkid.

Well, those body-to-neck clamps give it a convenient way to hang it on the wall...

I think I've seen it all, now, Lord!

It's merely a workmanlike approach to a knotty problem.

I really would like to meet the guy who did this and pick his miniscule brain.

HA! This same auction was posted on another forum that I'm a mod on. It's scary what some folks will do to "fix" an instrument....reminds me of the genius that cut off half the headstock of an ES-335 12 string because he wanted a 6 instead!

It may only take one pick, Paul!

Think about it--dual truss rods are just internalized versions of dual turnbuckles.
