any significance to writing inside the control panell route?

i found:
1. Jill 615k in pencil
2. 615k again in marker
3. the letter "m" in pencil
4. NAT
5. and 615 in marker under the pickgard

i know that 615 is the model although i don't know what the "K" means, and nat being natural. is the "M" note worthy and does the Jill point to any known person? by the way are there any markings on the pickups like you would find on a fender that dates them?

Questions such as this have been asked many times before in the forum. They're just the marks of whoever handled the guitar in the various stages of manufacture.

Why would my '67 360/12/white nut be marked 360C...did they ever make custom versions?

Hmmm... mine has:

"Why are you looking in here?"

We made 25 to 30 instruments a day: the numbers such as 615, 330, 360, 4001, etc. designate the model, the letter after that was just an alphabetical letter showing that it was finished from the final hand sanding dept. and ready for a coat of sealer. 330 G means a 2 pickup non bound guitar that was the 7th one done that day. It was just a simple way to keep track of how many guitars were ready to be painted. When I fitted the top nuts I would mark in the truss rod nut cavity 1 thru 25 or how ever many we did that day to keep a total showing they were complete and matched to the fitted top nut.

what do the various colors of magic marker stripes mean in the cavities of some 60's guitars?

Inside my 4005 it says 'The time has come, the walrus said, to think of many things; of shoes and ship and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings".
I never thought about it til now.

You know it is a handcrafted guitar - because they misspelled "ships" when they wrote all that in there

Mine only has the first half of the Preamble to the Constitution in it - they must have forgotten the other half

I guess it's possible, but the cavities where I've seen this also have the model no. written in pencil or sharpie.

I was thinking it was like each worker in the production and, especially, finish process would mark the cavity with their own color to show that step had been completed.
