Does anyone have a preference or good experience with a particular brand of FLATWOUND strings on a Ric 4001 bass? I was looking at Pyramid strings.
Thanks...

Jeff,
I highly recommend the Thomastik-Infeld JF344 (43-100) set which has less tension than the Pyramid Gold flats (40-105). The T-I's have the brighter elastic "modern flats" sound while the Pyramid's have the thumpy stiffy "vintage flats" sound. The light tensioned T-I's will be tender to your 4001 neck.
Price:
T-I:
$34
Pyramid:
$50
Due to the greater vibration amplitude of the T-I's, a little higher action is required if you don't like fret buzz.

Yeah, I like both of them, but especially on a 4001 I'd put the TI's, they are great sounding and playing strings, I just ordered another set this morning from juststrings.com. for another 4001 I have.
They were $36.00 there though, where do you get yours Paul?

Bob, click on "$34" in my post above and you'll be linked there.

Thanks Paul, his international rates are much lower than juststings also.

Jeff,
I've had TI Jazz Flats on my '79 for a couple of weeks. Very nice strings and low tension as Paul stated.
