330 with Goofy Wiring?

I just got my 330 from Elderly this afternoon.
Just to get the initial comments out of the way, it's fantastic so far. I spent about 6 hours jamming to REM and other standbys. Much fun;) I'll eventually get heavier strings, strap locks and so forth, but for now I am very happy with it.
Anyhoo, I have a question about something I just noticed regarding the 5th knob. The deal is, when I put the pickup selector on the neck position, the 5th knob STILL rolls off volume.
When I put the selector on the bridge setting, the 5th knob does not affect jack squat. I can twirl it all day and it does not effect tone in any way.
Is this normal? Intentional? If so I am either not understanding something, or my guitar was wired strangely.
I can still get whatever pickup blend I desire, but under the current situatio, the neck position on my pickup selector appears to be a bit rendundant. It cuts out the bridge PU but doesn;t give full volume to the neck. Help!
