Hey fellas,
I'm in a bind here. I've spoken to Kenny, Don, and a few other people about this and I'm still having problems. The neck pickup is a vintage re-ish, and its not orking at all, and when I plug it in I'm getting a loud hum from the horse-shoe pickup which is also a vintage re-ish. Also with the horseshoe I'm getting extremely low output on the E string, and I need this bass working by Saturday. Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

He is correct though that the bass is not "orking."

Check pickup connections & wiring harness for shorts or broken solder joints. As for the loud hum, check ground path for a broken connection. As for the E string, make the respective pickup polepiece taller by fitting a suitably sized, magnetically conductive washer on top thereof. Alternatively, install a heavier E string or, should the action of the original E string be somewhat high, lower E string by slightly deepening the groove on the respective bridge saddle. Should none of these steps work, well, borrow a couple of working pickups. Better still, borrow a 4001 or a 4003. Good luck.

Thanks for the quick responses and sorry for not specifying guitar or bass. I dropped the thing off at a local luthier and they determined that the problem stemmed from the jack. As for the horse-shoe, I had a .oo47 cap in it. It was removed and bypassed, however the output is still low on it, and the E string is barely sounding. I raised the height of the pickup as well to make it a little closer and hopefully that will solve the problem, other wise I'm sol for a while i guess.
