Always a cool song. I have a stereo version of this song which does not have the phase shift effects in it.

Love this song! Camper Van Beethoven did a very credible cover of it back in 1989. from the "Key Lime Pie" album.

Great tune! Look how young they are in that video.

The original was done by miking a Hammond B3 Organ Leslie horn speaker driver on full speed, using a mixed-down combination of vocal and instruments fed back off tape into the Leslie. This gave it the tremelo effects, but not the phase-shifting effect. The phase-shift psychedelic flanging effect was done using analog, not digital, flanging effects. The studio engineers set up two audio channels, one non-delayed and then they put the second channel onto analog tape delay by ever the slightest amount, nominally about 20 to 25 milliseconds or so, and then the engineer varied the flanging effect by simply twisting the fine speed control knob back and forth on the tape deck. It had been specially stepped-down with a vernier control to result in a slight change only on the inner concentric knob.
Today we just buy a $40 box and do it digitally!

Yep, you can use a $2000 digital box too

Even better that the digital box has other nifty uses like web browsing and email!

For me, this song brings back Slickee Boy memories.

Yeah! Another good cover of it, and the Slickee Boys also covered "Invisible People". Love that song!

Nice! No wah-wah in that performance, though. The single had "Gentleman Joe's Cafe" as the flip side, IIRC.

I wish I could find a video of "Sunny Cellophane Skies".
