Does anyone know what color David Smalley's 4001 was back in 1973? In the Don Kirshner's Rock concert video of "I Can Remember" it seems lighter than burgundy...almost a Ruby red brightness. According to the Rickenbacker Page Ruby didn't start until 1980 and the "red" color not until 1985. Check it out here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhFMY6M0bJo I am interested in finding out what color this bass really was.
Does anyone have any pics or info in this? Thanks

Don't forget about Scott McCarl he was on "Starting Over" which, along with "Side 3" (with Dave on bass) are the best two Raspberries records IMHO!

The only time the bass looked red-ish was when the spotlight was on it. Could be just the way that burgundy looked under lights. There were different shades of burgundy through the years.

I thought it may be Burgundy as well since the concert was in '73.
I like the look when it was bright!

Colored spotlights throughout that video...nothing is as it seems under the gels.

Looks like he's using a newer Midnight Blue in these shots from the Chicago House of Blues in Jan. 2005 which I was at.

Wow, thanks for posting those. I love The Raspberries, but having never seen them live, that was a treat.
