Fingerboard Mods on 330/12

I would like to have triangle position markers installed on my 330/12, which I am told would require fingerboard molding as well. Would the end result be a slight increase in the effective playing area (width) of the fingerboard? That would be a most desirable result. Can this be done?

It will not increase the neck width. Routing to install the binding would negate any width increase.

The fingerboard requires cutting the channel for neck binding and the tri-angel slots for the crushed pearl inlays. The next steps are fit inlays to the fingerboard, rebind and press new frets in that come over the binding to the edge so as to retain the original width of the frets. Lastly a new CV finish will be applied to preserve the fingerboard.

Jere, there is a different nut you could use to change string spacings, but being a bass player I didn't pay enough attention to have more details. Maybe someone else can add to this.

Are you implying that bassists do not pay attention? Image
