Ok, just in from the UK. Clough's teaser for this week.
"A fairly recent recording though not commercially available this act were extremely popular in the 60's on both sides of Atlantic for a while.
Who Is it"
You can find the song
here. As always do not post your answer here, only comments about the style or lyrics, for example.
If you know this group send an email to

Peter has put just in the UK but open to everyone, here's some clues.
It is a band who in 60's had 14 hits in UK including 3 number 1's, they had 7 top 40 hits in US though only one made top ten.
It is fair to say they were probably not known for their rocking side, that's why this track is not really indicative of them.

My apologies, Roy. What I thought I had typed was, "just in from the UK." I will make the correction.

A great song for this week Roy. I love the riff in the introduction, that harkens back to "Roll Over Beethoven" in some respects. This sound moves along very well, without the shouting lead vocal heard in so many of this ilk.

At first I thought it was a Traveling Wilburys outtake! Would have suited them.

Interesting, Mark, because my first thought was E.L.O.

I do NOT know who it is, but I've thrown my guess up into the air. Trust no one, Paul--you might be right for all we know!

Well, i do know now who this is and i must say it's exactly who i thought wasn't who i thought it was. Not very obvious, as it seems to me, but there are a coupla dead giveaways (imho)...

While I will leave it to Roy to rule on responses to his poll, it seems to me that mentioning who it may or not be and whether we have correctly identified the artist may take some of the challenge out of the game for others.
At the same time I also find the process taken by others in identifying the artists to be of great interest. So I am on the fence with regard to my comments.
Just my two cents. Roy?
