But they sound and look like a Genesis coverband here. Down to Phish' Peter Gabriel-like vocal performance and make up, the Tony Banks-like keyboard parts, the Steve Hackett-like guitar sound and the Mike Rutherford-like bass lines even the Phil Collins-like drumming.

That doesn't mean they're not good but it makes it perfectly clean where they got their stuff from.

This is my fav band. I love them. Fish was very much into Genesis when Marillion started out. But after the first two alums, Fish and the boys came into their own. Marillion has just released their 13th album named Somewhere else. Doesnt sound like Genesis now. Fish also is getting ready to release his next solo cd named 13th star, doesnt sound like Genesis. Check them both out, Marillion and Fish will both surprise you. Again, they are both my fav.

Garden Party was a great track with great bass. I think it is the Ric he is using on that. I wouldnt stick my neck out say that for sure but it certainly sounds like it. Mostly influenced by Genesis for sure but there is a definite Rush sound in there somewhere also. He's a good player as well.

I have a Dvd with Garden Party being played live. Pete is using his 4000. If you look at the Fish/Marillion live album, "The Thieving Magpie," Pete is shown using his Ric double neck that Dave P talks about. Misplaced Childhood is great, but I like "Brave" it is just as good and has Steve Hogarth on vocals. Marillion is a very under rated band. If you havent heard them since the Fish days, please check them out.

Here is a rare picture of Pete Trewavas.

The only other "big name" to use a 4080.

Great pic Dave, Only seen Pete and the group one time. It was their last US tour about 3 years ago. Drove from south Georgia to Cincy to see them. The drive was 13 hours, but well worth it. Met Mark Kelly the keyboard player and talked to him for about 30 mins before the sound check. a great group of guys. Now if I can meet Fish, my world would be complete. Peace, Mitch

Mitch I saw them once (on the first tour without Fish), in Chester PA. I went with about 20 of my good friends. It turned out that almost the entire audience that night consisted of about just the 20 of us. We hung out at the bar with the band for a good bit time before they went up to play (just for us). They were down to earth guys.

It was so strange to see them in a small venue for what turned out to be a private concert. I know in the late 80’s they played for 100,000 + people in large European arenas. They just never made it big here sad to say.

This I know, It is ashamed they didnt make it here. People here in the states are missing some of the best adult/prog rock music on the planet.

About 1/4 of the way down the page there is an audio player with 9 songs from across their career.

Sorry to report I never could stand this band...perhaps it's because I lived in Arizona when Prog was big, and I got enough hot, blustery wind every time I went outside.

On the other hand, maybe I'm just not an adult...

Don't know about Az since Ive never been there, never been to Spain or Ok neither. We are all adults and to each their own. I like a number of bands from the heaviest metal to the twangest country on the planet. Marillion makes some of the best head music on the planet, should I say more!!!!!! LOL
