Thanks to Geico insurance and the moron who didn't pay attention, I'm now the proud owner of a Lidl 3/4 Upright!
It's a musical frontier I always wanted to explore... quite psyched to finally get the chance. Pics to follow...

Excuse the Vodka- assisted photography, but that's the one! My hands kinda hurt... but I haven't been able to stop playing it much!

Wow. That thing would be bigger than me.

Can you play it holding it like a "regular" bass?

Not even close!
I'm 5'10... the bass is 6'2... and a legit foot or more deep, maybe 30+ pounds... I defy anyone to play it like a regular bass!
But it's awesome. I gave myself no credit for my ear and maybe I should have... I'm picking it up pretty quick! last riff I played on it was Taxman... sounds damn cool on a URB!!! Doesn't hurt that the previous owner denoted the odd-numbered "frets" on the side of the neck so I've been cheating a bit, but I'm trying to play it with my eyes closed so I don't!

Probably not, Sheena, but with a little practice he'll be able to play while standing on it!!
Was it Lee Rocker (Stray Cats - I think) who used to get up on his double bass and play the livin' tripe out of it??

Too cool Bob! I too am WAY overdue for an upright. That's what I get for blowing all my money on Ricks!

I was once advised to get an upright instead of my "smiley bass". That might have been a good sight. I'm around 5'1" tall.

Yup, it was Lee... whose new band is true to the style of music, but not quite the Cats...
JB... I forced myself to diversify... now I actually think I'm done buying instruments for a while. I swear!
I got a really sweet deal on it too. The bass (Lidl), A good pickup and mic system that retails for 300+ by itself, bag... all for $800.

There was no way Brian... way too good of a deal. Only now I wish my studio space was bigger!
I was up Half the night playing it and, admittedly, my hands are feeling it a bit!

Nah, but it takes up a chunk of the studio!
Go for it Woody... didn't realize how much I'd like playing it until I tried it... I've had alot of trouble keeping my hands off of it since I brought it home!
