That's a beautiful guitar. It's a bit expensive though IMO. I have a couple of Tele's in my Fender collection. They are great guitars.

Gee, maybe it will boost the value of my '86. I was going to take it out in the driveway and beat on it with chains for a while to give it some relic value, but maybe now I won't have to. Surprisingly, in 40 years of playing, it's the only Fender product I've ever owned.

So what's next? The Gallotone Limited Edition reissue of the 'Guaranteed not to split' model John Lennon made famous? It'll probably be a steal at only $2799. Sheesh!

Todd send it over here if you are not partial to it. I promise to not beat on it and to give it a good home among it's own kind.

Brian, I think I'll hang onto it for a while as it plays pretty nicely and if folks are crazy enough to pay four grand for the next reissue, it should appreciate a bit. The Japanese electronics are pretty junky, but the wood work is first rate. I replaced the switch with a high-quality four-way and the pots with good ones and that helped. Next will be the pickups - as soon as I decide which ones to replace them with and get energetic.

Keep me in mind if you ever tire of it Todd. I have a very small collection of Ricks and a much larger collection of Fender products and whats more, they all get played.

If you really want one, you can still get a brand new Fender Japan Rosewood "Harrison" Tele for less than $800.The Fender Japan guitars are great value for the money.
An asking price of $5000.00 for the LTD just doesn't make any sense, in my opinion.
Granted, it looks fantastic and is well built, but $5,000 worth?

Manuel makes a very good point--Fender Japan products are really first class instruments if you've never tried one. I've got a CIJ '57RI Strat that is one of the best guitars I own. Many come stock with Fender USA p/ups; if not, they're easy to swap.
Todd, you're tele is gorgeous!!

Some of my Fender guitars are Japanese made RI versions. My son also has a whole collection of Japanese Fender guitars and basses.
I have to say that I agree with Manuel, they are top quality instruments. In some cases they are better made than their American counterparts IMO.

You can not compare current fender japan (CIJ) models with the 80s-90s reissues or from the current custom shop ones.
the current japanese models are veneer and painted necks while the other much more expensive ones are real solid rosewood.
