A glass of 2002 Burgundy, perhaps?

Here's the latest, a beautiful, mint, 2002 Burgundy (COY) 4003. I got this on a BIN on eBay last week from Guitar Boy in Albuquerque. Perfect deal/dealer.

Interestingly, it came with all the case candy, including a warranty registration card, but the card was for a 4001CS (Chris Squire) with serial number QI 8057 (4/28/98). If any forumite has this bass, I've got the card (not a certificate). Yes, it's way beyond the warranty date, but if you would like the card, I can supply.

Really a lovely color, and yes, I'm partial to Burgundy in all its variations.

I wonder why the black nut? It's nice, it balances the black of the high gain and the knobs...but my '72 4001 has a white nut. I'm always curious how these minor changes/decisions come about over the years.

That really is a beaut, congrats. I noticed the USA sticker is still on it. There was a thread about the stickers on the RIC website a few weeks ago, you gonna leave it on?

That was a great pickup, Paul. The COY Burgs don't pop up too often.

I've said it many times, but I really think Burgundy should be a "full time" RIC finish.

Nice bass, Paul!
And John -I agree on the "full time finish" idea.

I like mapleglo, I have 2, but I still crave walnut, and white, and even azure or midnight blue, but I could live without those if I can just find a nice, "killer deal" burgundy.

Congratulations.

Well, in the COYs, just Desert Gold and Blueboy, but I'm missing a lot more colors: Turquoise, Jetglo, Mapleglo, White, Silver, Red, Ruby, Azureglo, Midnight Blue, Autumnglo/Walnut . . . I'm not necessarily in this just to collect all the colors, though. I've had two Jetglos come and go, a Mapleglo, and a Desert Gold. I buy many of them because the price is good, and some I sell away because the offer is right.
