VTC in V63

I'm thinking about installing the VTC pot, in my V63 that Dale's finishing up.
I remember reading some posts about the cavity depth being a possible issue? I thought JH mentioned that newer basses were routed deeper, but I'm not sure when the change happened.
Anyone know if this will be an problem for this bass? She was built in 2000...
Thanks!

Dale's informed me that the control cavity depth is ONE INCH... exactly!

Anyone installed the Vintage Tone Control pot in a 99 or 2000... or know how deep the latest cavities are, on basses that have the VTC?

Hi Sean, this is a bit off topic, but how's the Joe Osborn working out for ya? This is Reid out in Oregon, cheesybass on ebay, I thought your username looked familiar and checked through my email, and low and behold! Anyway, this is cool that you have a 4001V63, I always wanted one of those. I got my trusty old 4001, though like most here, I lust after dots and no binding! LOL!

Hiya Reid!
If you like "dots and no binding"... check out my bass, in the "Vibrola" section under "V63 refinish".
The JO is cool... thanks. It's one of many Laklands I have. They are the best P/J clones... my US Glaub bests my original 63 P (now gone!), by a mile!

I'm in awe of your's and Dale's skills. That is going to be a killer bass when it's done. Not that it wasn't, it's just going to be killer, plus! Enjoy!

Sean,
I dropped a VTC in my V63. It sounds great. I highly recommend putting one in.

Sam,
What year is yours? I'm not sure of the year when JH said they started making the cavity deeper.
Thank you!

Did you do the install yourself?

1997 4003- the cavity was not deep enough but I just installed the pickguard leaving a little bulge, that is, only loosely snugged the screws. It only bulges a little, and I didn't have to rout more room.

Sean,
Yes, I did. Use Joey's Bass notes schematic, it's alot easier to follow than the factory schematic. It really adds another dimension to the sound of the bass. I think it's great!!

Thanks to all of you, for your input!

Sam, I figured it would be the way to go. Thanks.

I'll report back when Dale's done, in my "Vibrola" thread "V63 refinish".
Cheers
