Reason and Cubse

Hi all. I've been tinkering with Reason 3.0 and Cubase SL 3, used together via the ReWire function. I have a few questions and I wonder if anyone here is experienced with this software combination.

1) Can I "prerecord" a drum or rhythm track in Reason using Reason instruments, then have it end up in Cubase? I guess I could create a MIDI file and then import it into Cubase. Is that the only way?

2) I've heard that I can use effects from Reason in Cubase if I somehow employ the Virtual Rack function in Cubase. Can anyone guide me here?

There doesn't seem to be too much clear, explicit documentation on the web-at-large even though loads of people seem to be doing it.

THanks much in advance for any advice you can offer.

Cheers

I have recently acquired these too, but I am still baffled. I look forward to possible answers here!

Hmm...'Tinkering With Reason'...not a bad song title, Rumbush.

Lemme know if you're not gonna use it...

Sorry chaps.....I use Cubase, but know nothing of Reason, or how they work together.

Not much help, but I thought I'd chime in!

I'm not baffled, in fact a lot of the basic recording functions and mixing are fairly intuitive (and good!).

Tony is there any such thing as a virtual rack in Cubase?

Tinkering with Reason...

Well, it's all yours Dane just give me a nod and a wink on the sleeve :-)

Being honest Oliver, I don't know. I use Cubase purely as an editing tool & use none of the inbuilt watsits & thingimyjigs. I'll have a look.....
