Hmmm, what's the scam?

For the second time in two days, this post appeared on my local Craigslist:

Free Guitar To Give To Someone

Hello. I’m giving away my Blueridge BG-60 Acoustic Guitar. This is a very good guitar If you know anything about them. It’s in excellent condition. The strings are worn down a little bit. Might have to replace them. I’m keeping the case that came with it. If you want it, email me and I can give you directions to my house to come pick it up. My 1st guitar was given to me by someone, and I want to do the same for somebody else. Thanks.

...and I'm thinking could this be true? What would the scam be? I responded yesterday to no reply, but the ad disappeared pretty quickly. It came up again today and I've tried again. Could be for real, but if it is some sort of scam, what do you suppose it would be?

1. You come to pick it up, in your car, in your clothes, with some money in your wallet, all alone.
2. You come out of his house, without the car, without the clothes, without the money, but with the guitar in question.
3. Kiddin'. Image

That's easy! Here is what I would do: Drive someone else's car to the lady's house (or take a taxi), take no money, and carry a spare set of clothing to hide next door in the bushes before going into her house. Enjoy whatever happens. Then leave in safety with the guitar and a "secret smile" on your face Image

Then retrieve and don the spare set of duds from back next door, and catch another taxi...

Kiddin' too Image

Sounds great--except I'm both married and straight, so maybe not...

Really not a bad guitar, though.

That's why I am just kiddin' - with a happy wife and five kids, it's kinda obvious that I would never go see another lady about a guitar...

...and the ad disappears again.

So it was in D.C. too?

My guess is they are collecting email addresses.

See, this is why I'm glad I can always get a new free email address!

WAIT A MINUTE---where did my kidney go?!!

It's also in the Atlanta Craigslist.

So that's why she prescreened me over the phone with that health questionnaire before inviting me over to pick up the guitar!

Heck, the most anyone's ever given me before was a glass of orange juice and a big cookie, and that cost a pint of blood at the Red Cross van in front of the Stuff Mart.....

Maybe a free guitar is worth a kidney, but she will have to up the ante to a mid-58 Capri first, just to make things interesting Image
